As gyms are reopening, you’ll want to follow CDC guidelines for safety if you begin visiting one.
While still viewed as risky, you can reduce risks of contracting COVID at a fitness facility, according to the CDC, by following these reccomendations:
o staff members and patrons should wear a mask
o facilities should enforce consistent and correct mask use (including during high-intensity activities)
o facilities should continuously wipe down exercise equipment, door handles, etc. (patrons should also wipe down equipment and benches/dumbbells/barbells when done)
o physical distancing
o facilities MUST improve ventilation by hiring professionals to evaluate and correct where airflow is ineffective
o patrons and staff members to stay home when ill
Exercising outdoors or virtually could further reduce virus transmission risk.
